Did you know (per American Diabetes Association) that diabetics suffer 2 to 4x the rate of complications as non-diabetics,  such as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, blindness, kidney disease, nervous system damage, amputations and death?   What can you do?  Help a Type 1 or Type 2 diabetic in your life get the best thinking and action steps to take charge of their diabetes and strive to eliminate the above complication and prevent, or reverse Type 2, or master Type 1 diabetes like Mary Nilssen, MA, RHIA, CRM has done.

Who is Mary and how has she done this?  Mary has been a Type 1 Diabetic for over 60 years and is very healthy; she learned a great deal about the health care system and working with physicians in her career in Health Information Management.  She has written a book about her long term experiences coping with diabetes called “Designing your Diabetes Wellness Plan, 10 Proven Principles to a Healthier Lifestyle”.

How?  Come to our Diabetes Wellness Planning Seminar on Nov. 16^th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., @Friends Meeting House (4500 Kensington Ave., Richmond, 23221 and park on Commonwealth streets).  There is no charge to hear about the 10 Principles (from 4 to 5 p.m.).  For those wanting to stay and develop their personal DWP (scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m.), the cost for this and the book is only $49.  If you are late registering, please bring cash or check if not completed via Enventbrite.

Mary is also available for personal consulting and she teaches a 9 week program called Effective Personal Leadership.  This  is great for longterm, teenage or college bound diabetics who may be suffering from frustration or burnout,  and where they learn to use our goalsetting techniques  and our Wheel of Life concept as a way to rekindle interest in the key areas of life and get excited again about why is it so important to take care of their diabetes.  Mary has been able to do this her entire life.
